چکیده

This paper contains a brief review of the cases, published earlier, of aneurysms of the sinuses of Valsalva, and a case is reported in which the diagnosis was made before rupture of the aneurysm by means of thoracic aortography. No reports are to be found in the literature of the diagnosis of unruptured aortic sinus aneurysms and of the associated clinical findings. Roentgenogramns, aortograms and catheterization findings are included.

Sinus of valsalva aneurysm, is a rare congenital defect and the diagnosis is usually made after it ruptures. The anomaly often involves the right coronary sinus and is less frequent in the noncoronary sinus. The rupture of the left sinus of valsalva into the pulmonary artery is extremely rare. So far, few cases with ruptured left sinus of valsalva have been reported. We are reporting a ruptur...

Aneurysm of the aortic sinuses with pseudo-coarctation of the aorta.

Aortic sinus aneurysms are uncommon; association with pseudocoarctation has not been previously recognized. Morgan Jones and Langley (1949) in a classic paper reviewed fortythree autopsy proven cases, added four new ones, and divided them into congenital and acquired types: of the total, twenty-five were congenital. Venning (1951) reported three additional cases and Falholt and Thomsen (1953) i...

A sinus of Valsalva-right atrium fistula without aneurysm formation.

A 61-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of orthopnea and was diagnosed with heart failure with a continuous heart murmur. A transthoracic echocardiogram revealed turbulent flow from the right coronary sinus of Valsalva to the right atrium throughout the cardiac cycle. Aortography confirmed the presence of a shunt jet from the right coronary sinus of Valsalva to the right atrium. ...

Sinus of Valsalva Aneurysm with Rupturing into the Right Atrium A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm accounts for only 1% of congenital cardiac anomalies. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm can cause aortic insufficiency, coronary artery flow compromise, cardiac arrhythmia, or aneurysm rupture. A 44year-old male presented with a 3-month history of palpitation and exertional dyspnea. Cardiac auscultation revealed a grade III/VI ‘‘to and fro’’ murmur along the left sternal bor...

Bicuspid Aortic Valve: An Unusual Cause of Aneurysm of Left Coronary Sinus of Valsalva

Bicuspid aortic valve is traditionally considered an innocuous congenital anomaly. Due to a better and widespread availability of non-invasive imaging techniques, it has come to the fore that 30% of these cases develop complications, viz., valve abnormality (aortic regurgitation and stenosis), and aneurysm of aortic root and ascending aorta. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is an uncommon complicatio...
